Frequently Asked Questions
Why are we expanding to cats?
We love cats! Many of our lab members own their very own feline family members and share a large interest helping find solutions to diseases that are common in aging cats. This is a realm of research little explored, and our lab members are determined to change that. Humans and cats share many of the same chronic diseases of aging; by helping out our feline friends, we might be able to help find treatments to human diseases as well!
Will you treat my old cat?
We do not provide treatment for aging cats, we can only receive donations. Please contact your nearest veterinarian, or urgent clinic for help.
Where are we located?
The Ladiges Lab is located at the University of Washington inside the Health Sciences Building right next to the UW Medical Center.
How will the cat reach the Ladiges Lab?
We provide a courier service that will help connect us to you. Once you make the decision to donate, we will reach out with further pick-up times and locations via e-mail.
Will the owner get to receive their cat’s remains later?
Yes, they will. Resting Waters, the company we partner with, provides a biodegradable urn, accompanied by a fur clipping and paw print, which will all be sent to you via mail to courier.
What is the general timeline of the process, from deciding to donate your cat to getting the remains?
From the initial donation, processes take two weeks until urn delivery. After contacting us, we will reach out to schedule pick-up times, and then from there everything is carried out by our team at the Ladiges Lab. We will inform you when our delivery to Resting Waters has been made, and from there urn delivery will take no more than 1-2 weeks.
